The fishing dramatically improved over the last week, with decent tides and weather on the angler's side. In the rivers and creeks locally there is a good supply of small GT's to 2kg working busily in packs and they have been caught regularly on the incoming tides. They're enjoying the abundance of small baits available. Mangrove jack and fingermark were also on the chew, with 40-45cm specimens taken readily amongst the deeper snags on the outgoing tide.

The reef fired up and the coral trout were in an aggressive mood. Many anglers registered their bag limits and many species were a solid 3-4kg - perfect for a family feed. Stripies and sweetlip were also caught in prolific numbers to legal sizes. A few Spanish mackerel were taken, mainly around the 5-6kg mark.

The black marlin are running hot at the Linden Banks, with many big girls registering the 800 - 900lb mark. The Shelf further to the north is slowing and it appears the Banks are the location to concentrate on from this point forward, for the next month or so. The late afternoon is when the hot bite is occurring and overnight trips are at an absolute advantage.
