Weekly Report 23 Aug 11

Look, when we can avoid the south easterly winds the fishing is quite exceptional, especially offshore. There has been solid reef reports and the light tackle fishing has been good most of the time. Some of the more prominent reports have included big catches of Spanish mackerel, a run of northern bluefin tuna on the shelf and the reef fishing has seen incredible catches of red emperor to 11.5kg and huge bags of coral trout on the larger scale to 6kg. Encounters with black marlin have already occurred up to 400lb so watch this scene improve from here on. Not receiving raving reports from the rivers which you would expect to hear if things were firing. I'd expect a dramatic improvement moving into September when water temperatures rise sparking more activity. We are on the cusp where the Spring atmosphere takes hold and we look forward to an exciting month ahead.
