Weekly Report 10 Nov 11

Post by Brad » Thu Nov 10, 2011 1:09 pm

Superb November weather dominates proceedings in the Far North.

Game: we've just come off the back of a successful Port Douglas Marlin Challenge tournament. 14 boats vied for honours with Kyrenia skippered by Damon Gruszdev winning with 3 tagged marlin. Overall statistics for the 4 day competition saw 40 strikes 28 hook-ups and 13 tagged marlin. Linden Bank proved to be the hot spot on the turn of the tide and late afternoon.

Reef: predominantly coral trout is the prized catch at the moment with moses perch, cod, gold spot trevally and a few nannygai making up the rest of the catch. Night time efforts have seen the reds come on the bite better than the day time.

River: mangrove jack, queenfish, trevally, fingermark, grunter and barra have been registered at different times of the day. Low light periods fishing the best, the middle of the hot day is very quiet.
