Weekly Report 17 Feb1 2

Post by Brad » Fri Feb 17, 2012 4:22 pm

It has been the mildest of wet seasons in the tropics, a few drops of rain but nothing like what we are normally use to for this time of year. Boating conditions overall have been fantastic albeit a tad warm at times. The fishing has been a bit patchy with the rivers and creeks yearning for a decent flush out to kick start some activity and the reef is typically fishing a bit harder which is the norm at this time of year.

There have been some nice catches however with some impressive large mouth nannygai coming on the bite offshore along with a good supply of gold spot trevally. Inshore the dominant catches have included mangrove jack, trevally, fingermark and the odd barra. The night time fishing has been a bit more active in the creeks. Town is quiet at the moment but we should see a steady run of people trickly through again in a few weeks. In the meantime, we have great weather and ample opportunity to wet a line.
