Estuary: Trevally at the river mouth with bigger fish at the ends of the walls, mainly on metals and poppers. A cobia of around 6kg was caught on the North Wall on metal. Smaller trevally to a kilo behind the hospital are also going well on small poppers and metals. The odd flathead, mainly on live herring, and a few bream on the last of the falling tide and first of the run in. Still the odd jack around the rocky points and holes but slowing a bit, best on live bait rather than lures. Whiting have just about tapered off. School lizards behind Seagulls and back of the airport going OK on lures. A few crabs including the odd sandy roaming around the deeper holes and weedy edges. Bottom of the run-in tide seems the best.
Offshore: A bit of mix. The odd mackerel in the crystal clear water in close, wahoo out the back of the Nine Mile, look for the bait schools. The odd marlin still around and the charter boats have been getting rat yellowfin to a couple of kilos. A few squire in close with the odd knob and a lot of spangled emperor up to 5kg.
Rocks and beaches: Beaches pretty scratchy with a few chopper tailor off Snapper Rocks and Burleigh headland. Better fish down off Black Rock and further south.
