Weekly Report 31/12/08

Pretty quiet apart from the river. Quite a few jacks on the rock bars and bridges with live bait and lures, hard and soft, working. Fish to around 58cm with some bigger ones lost. School flathead with undersized ones as well from most flats and drop-offs. Whiting either side of legal with some better fish but you have to work for them, try the Piggery and the sandbars behind the golf club. Tonnes of blackfish but they’re very finicky with No 14 hooks just working for them if you’re lucky. Trevally down near the mouth on soft plastics and poppers.
Very quiet on the beaches apart from choppers at Black Rock, Cabarita and a few school jew as well.
Outside anglers are struggling for a feed. Big kings on the 40s and 50s but the tide is just ripping. A couple of marlin around but there’s no bait to keep them interested. Water warming to 23°-24° but no bait and not much life.
