Weekly Report 26/8/11

Plenty of flathead in the river from the mouth to the upper reaches including quite a few big girls. Bait or soft plastics, take your pick. Some bnice bream around the rock walls with the last of the run out and first of the run in when the water is a bit discoloured, use gut or flesh baits . Trevally around the wreck down near the mouth, too, especially on the top of the run in. Plenty of blackfish in all the usual haunts, with the overpass bridge and Cobaki bridge the best places. Heaps also down at the river mouth. Probably worth putting in a few crab pots. A few school jew up on the bridges, too.
Not much action on the beaches but once it settles down it’s worth looking around Cabarita and Hastings Point for a few or a tailor.
Today is the first day the bar has allowed offshore trips. There were big amberjack, pearlies and snapper out on the 40-fathom line.
