Report 15/1/15

Post by subeditor » Thu Jan 15, 2015 1:34 pm

In the river, there’s been a heap of mud crabs, mainly around the middle reaches of the river.
Flathead have been prevalent in the Terranora and the usual array of soft and hardbodied lures have accounted for many fine lizards recently.
There’s been a few whiting around and reasonable numbers have been taken on surface lures, but the bait fishos have been faring better.
School jewies have been in good numbers around the bridges at night and high tide has been the time to fish. With them have been mangrove jacks, which have mainly succumb to livies, although a few have been taken on soft plastics.
Up in the brackish and fresh sections of the river, there have been solid reports of bass being taken on lures, both below and above the weir.

Offshore, the marlin maddess is continuing, with incredible numbers of juvenile black marlin coming in. It’s been silly, some boats are coming back after boating 5-6 fish!
There’s been spotties around, but they’ve been patchy even on good days.

The fishing along the beaches has been fairly quiet and wind affected. Hopefully this will improve soon.
