Report 5/3/15

Post by subeditor » Thu Mar 05, 2015 1:23 pm

Starting in the river, there’s been some great tailor starting to move in around the mouth and with them have been some fun-sized trevally. A mixture of lures and baits has proved successful in this location.
Flathead have been taken in good numbers in Cobaki Lakes at most stages of the tide.
Muddies have been taken in great numbers in the lower reaches after being swept down by the rain, so remember to take the pots!
Jewies have kept the dedicated estuarine crew happy, taking mainly live baits but occasionally rising to lures. Places of interest have been Barneys Point Bridge and the North Wall of the bar entrance.

Along Fingal and Chinderah rock wall here’s been some good jewies around with all the fresh in the system. Patience is key to this style of fishing, but quality fish have been landed in the last few weeks.
A few tailor are starting to show up along the beaches, but nothing to write home about yet.

Outside, a few mackerel have ben getting about. Places such as 9-mile Fidos Reef are good places to begin your search for mackerel.
