Report 13/3/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Mar 13, 2015 1:30 pm

Starting in the river, trevally have been causing their usual havoc around the mouth of the river and now that it’s starting to cool down, some good-sized tailor have joined them.
Beneath them around the mouth, there has been some quality school jew responding to lures and baits.
Speaking of jew, there’s been plenty to be caught around the bridges, namely Barneys Point and Tumbulgum bridges.
Jack have been smashing live baits and lures around Chinderah Rock Wall and Supercat, but these guys have been thinning out with the cooler weather on its way.
Flathead have been a regular feature all throughout the river, and the numbers are improving. The usual array of plastics, hardbodies and live baits have been working.

Along the beaches, tailor have started to show up in good numbers around Fingal Head and along Bilinga Beach.
Jewfish have been a bit scarce further down, but some decent jew have been taken down at South Kingscliff Rock Wall.

Outside, some great Spaniards have showed up at 9-mile, while some quality snapper moving in around Fidos, with the odd Spaniard here as well.
Out further, pearlies are being taken at the 50 fathom mark, but anglers are advised to be mindful of the weather when venturing outside, as it can change around here in the blink of an eye.
