Report 20/3/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Mar 20, 2015 1:24 pm

Stating in the river, there’s been bucket loads of good-sized GTs and big-eye trevally around the mouth and also around the bridges at high tide. Live herring and surface lures have been doing the damage on these speedsters.
Staying around the mouth, jacks have been terrorizing bait along the rocks walls along the river mouth and once again, livies and lures have been the order of the day.
Plenty of school jew have been taken in the past week around the bridges.
Good numbers of flatties have been found in Terranora and Cobaki lakes and the Piggery, but the vast majority of these fish have been small.
Up in the fresh, bass have been taken on all the usual lures and baits both above and below the weir.

Along the beaches, there hasn’t been much to talk about, but healthy numbers of tailor and dart have been taken along Kingscliff and also further south around Bellinger.

Offshore, the scene has been a little quiet with short spurs of joy.
The spotties have been patchy, with some spotties turning up at 9-mile and Fidos.
There is the odd big Spanish out there, with some over the 15kg mark, but apart from this there’s not much else to report on offshore.
