Report 2/4/15

Post by subeditor » Thu Apr 02, 2015 2:26 pm

Starting out wide, if you’re able to get out (which is looking doubtful), there’s been some quality wahoo and Spanish mackerel around 9-mile and Fidos reef.
Also at Fidos have been plenty of jewies and a sprinkling of snapper.
Be warned that the weather is supposed to turn bad over this Easter break, so take care out on the water if you do head out.

Along the beaches they’ve been getting some good tailor off Fingal Headland and the South Kingscliffe Wall.
Along the wall there’s also been some good quality jewies making the most of this freshwater.

The river is pretty brownish at the moment due to all this rain, but keyed in anglers will be out along the walls at the mouth spinning for jewies.
Revelling in all this brown water too has been tailor and trevally, which are just waiting to smash the bait which has been washed down the river.
This rain will have brought down the muddies too, so it’s not all doom and gloom over Easter, with the opportunity to put some crab on the table.
