Report 23/4/15

Post by subeditor » Thu Apr 23, 2015 2:33 pm

Starting out wide, the weather has improved remarkably, and those who’ve been have been smashing some great mackerel and wahoo around 9-mile and Fidos reef.
Also at Fidos are loads of good snapper, and those working soft plastics and baits have been reaping the rewards with good bags of snapper coming in.

In the river, the flathed have been coming on and areas like Fingal Straits, Chinderah and Supercat have been producing the better numbers.
Cobaki Lakes have been coughing up some quality bream as they school up ready for spawning. Most fish have been taken around the oysters leases with in the lakes.
Jacks are still around, even with the slight chill, and Barney’s Point bridge has been producing a few, along with the odd school jew, which are becoming more common throughout the river.

Along the beaches a few anglers have been boasting bags of tailor, which are becoming more prevalent as the weather cool and more schools move in. Bellinger Beach and Fingal Head are the pick for anyone after a feed of tailor.
