Report 8/5/15

Post by subeditor » Fri May 08, 2015 1:57 pm

Everything’s been a bit quiet after the rains, which poured down over the Tweed Coast.

Around the mouth of the river, there’s been a few tailor and trevally coming back after the downpour, preying on baitfish as they’re swept out of the river.
Beneath them, the mulloway will be hanging around trying to nab a feed of their own/
The upper river is still recovering, but in the next week or so it should come back on strong.

The beaches have been quiet, apart from a few whiting along Kirra and scattered tailor and dart here and there.
Kingscliff beach has seen a few tailor come in, but not in any great numbers.

Mackerel have been hanging out a bit wider to get clear of this dirty water. When the water clears the pelagics should venture back into the close-in reefs.
