Report 15/5/15

Post by subeditor » Fri May 15, 2015 1:30 pm

Starting on the beaches, tailor have been thick along Bellinger Beach and Fingal Headland. Other good spots have been the south wall of the river mouth and Kingscliffe.

Outside, pearlies and snapper have graced anglers’ bags and the 36-fathom mark has been the pick of the spots.
In closer at Fidos, snapper and jewies have been in good numbers and are responding to a variety of baits. A few yellow tails kingies have been smashing live baits too.
At 9-mile is also boasting good catches of kingies with soft plastics and surface lures working as well as baits.

In the river, flathead have been common and Fingal Strait and Chinderah have been the go-to spots.
There’s been some good reports of flathead around Tumbulgum as well on the un-out tide. The usual soft plastics and blades have been ding the damage on the flathead.
Bream are stil being caught in numbers in the river, and one good spot recently has been in behind the hospital in a place they call the cotton trees.
For the crabbers, muddies have been moving about in the upper reaches, so remember to bring the pots!
