Report 22/5/15

Post by subeditor » Fri May 22, 2015 2:01 pm

Starting out wide, 9-mile and the mud hole has seen some good squire coming aboard, with the odd larger snapper being landed as well.
In the same area, kingies have been smashing live baits of squid, an these fish should start to thicken up over the net few months.
There’s still a few mackerel kicking around 9-mile, but with the focus turning toward snapper, these fish should thin out quickly.

In the river, school jew have been taken along the rock walls and river mouth, and also around the bridges on high tide changes.
Blackfish (luderick) have been chewing along Boyds Bay bridge and also the north wall, with a few fish showing up around the cadet unit.
Tailor and trevally have been terrorising bait around the Anchorage, and on both sides of Boyds Bay bridge.
For the flathead lovers, there’s been plenty, and one real hot spot has been Cobaki Lakes

Along the beaches, a few tailor have graced anglers’ bags, but we’re still waiting for a solid run of fish and a good period of steady westerlies.
