Report 28/5/15

Post by subeditor » Fri May 29, 2015 1:23 pm

Starting outside, big kingies are making their presence felt, with specimens over 1m smashing livies around 9-mile.
At the Mud Hole, squire and the odd snapper have been taken on plastics and strip baits fished on the bottom.
Out at the 36’s, pearlies have been filling anglers’ bags and making for a good feed.

In the river, school jew are being taken around the bridges on the high tide change on the usual live baits and lures.
Flatties are getting bigger, and Cobaki Lakes and Terrenora are the pick of the spots. Fish to 60cm and over have been smashing 4” plastics.
Around the mouth, chunky tailor to 60cm are terrorising bait, along with some smaller trevally and rat kingies.
Bass are definitely moving downstream to spawn, so it’s a good diea to let them do their thing while the water’s a bit cooler.

On the beaches, some smaller tailor, dart and the odd school jewy are turning up in the gutters around Kingscliffe and Tugun.
