The spotties have been patchy, with some catches from around 9 Mile, Fidos and the Mud Hole. Some decent size Spaniards have been caught off the back of Kingscliff Reef, and some small black marlin have come from the 36 fathom line.

At the river mouth anglers have been getting some decent mulloway. Some good size flathead have come from the Cotton Trees.

At Boyds Bay Bridge and Barneys Point Bridge there’s been schools of big eye trevally and mangrove jacks. In the middle reaches of the river we’ve been catching good numbers of quality sand whiting on surface lures. There are decent numbers of mud crabs there as well.

On the beach fishing front, there have been few small tailor around Main Beach, Kingscliff and also at Casuarina. There have been a few black fish in the river there as well.
