Report 19/2/16

Post by subeditor » Fri Feb 19, 2016 11:40 am

Outside, it's been fairly wild, and the swell has prevented people from getting out, but those who got out have been finding the odd Spanish around the back onf Kingscliffe and black rocks, with a few small yellowfin coming aboard for those fishing 9-mile.
Dollies have been thick around the FAD, and there's been a few bigger models mixed in with the little ones.

In the river, mulloway have been in good numbers, with anglers fishing the south wall with live mullet achieving the best results.
There's also been some good mulloway action around the cotton trees.
Juvenile kings and ambos are again causing chaos as they smash into bait schools, and the better numbers have been found around the catwalk.
Jupitors Hole has been producing its usual good numbers of flathead, with fish being caught on a variety of lures and baits.
Whiting on poppers is still going strong, and Stotts seems to be the place to be, particularly on the high tide over the flats.
Mangrove jacks are still being taken around Tumbulgum and barneys Point bridges, particularly on the run-out tide.

The beaches have been fairly quiet, with only a few tailor turning up, and usually in small sizes.
