Report 4/3/16

Post by subeditor » Fri Mar 04, 2016 2:27 pm

Outside, spotted and Spanish mackerel have been the main targets, particularly around 9-mile, but Palm Beach reef and The Gravel has produced their fair share too.
Kingfish are becoming thicker and thicker by the day, and Fidos reef has been a good place to start. Live baits and various cast lures have accounted for the decent kingfish.

On the beaches it's been fairly quiet once again, but the odd tailor has been reported at Burleigh and Kingscliff, and the north wall is producing it's usual kingfish, trevally and tailor.

In the rivers, flathead are becoming the main focus of the estuary anglers with the Chinderah and Tumbulgum stretches being favoured for some flatty action.
Muddies have moved back up into the upper reaches with the lack of rain recently, so those looking for a feed of crabs should head up to Murwillumbah.
Those after bream should target the rock walls, particularly those around the river mouth, in an area known as the Cotton Trees.
