Report 23/12/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Dec 23, 2016 1:55 pm

Outside anglers have been getting into the kings around 9 mile on live yakkas and surface lures. Kingies are also being caught out at the 50 fathom line on jigs. There have been a few pearlies out on the 50s as well.

Some dolphinfish have been coming from the warm water line around the 36 fathom mark and a little bit wider. Anglers are also picking up the odd spotted mackerel from the closer reefs.

The river mouth has been yielding juvenile kingfish and bigeye trevally. There are reports of good size flatties between Tumbulgum and upstream to Condong.

Good whiting are being caught on nippers, worms and surface lures from all the sandbanks on the start of the rising tide.

Jacks are being caught from most bridges and rock walls, especially on live baits at night.

There are a few mud crabs in the middle reaches as well.
