Report 18/8/17

Before this wind set in, the boys were getting some snapper and flatehad out on the 32 fathom line. The leather jackets have cleared out, thank goodness. A couple of pearl perch and kingfish have been coming from out wider. The close reefs have been a bit quieter, with just a few trag and a few pan-size snapper.

The beaches have been a bit of a mix, with anglers picking up flathead, bream and some dart. We were just starting to to hear of a handful of chopper tailor around Black Head and Flat Rock, but now this weather is moving in! Sometimes you can't catch a break.

There have been a few luderick in the river but they've been sporadic. Try the usual spots like Porpoise Wall and Prospect Bridge. Catches have been a bit better on the runout tide.

There have been good numbers of bream from the ferry to the mouth. There are also quite a lot of undersize and just legal flathead being taken from the ferry to about Wardell Bridge. They have been a bit better on the runout tide.

On the top of the tide we've been seeing a few school jew as well. Live herring or 4-5" soft plastics or vibes are the go.

The bass have started to move back upriver, and better numbers of them seem to be above Woodburn.
