Weekly Report 28/12/07

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Dec 28, 2007 10:35 am

Bruce from Dave’s Bait Shop reports on a good run of whiting up around Pimlico Island on bloodworms but they are also taking beach worms. Try along the Town Reach and in North Creek in the early evening for whiting and some flathead. Some school jew from the ferry up to Wardell after dark. Quite a few mud crabs in Emigrant Creek and the main river.
A few quality tailor have been spun up around the headlands north to Broken Head with a fair smattering of bream and the odd jew in the washes as well. Whiting, dart and bream along the beaches. Some snapper on the wider reefs and some bull mahi mahi around the trap floats and FADs with a 10kg fish caught during the week.
Inshore water warming up at Evans Head with some good low-tide formations on the beaches producing some bream, whiting and the odd tailor and jewfish. Some school jew around the headlands on beach worms and occasionally on squid. As always, plenty of shy bream in the river and they’re running a gauntlet of rods around the bridge and the lower sandbar. Some flathead and whiting further up-river with the odd jack around the rock bars and those crabs being ‘share farmed’ up around the golf club. Pretty ordinary conditions for outside fishing with the odd fair haul of reds and a few trag for those who don’t mind being bashed about in a sloppy sea.
