Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop says the river is fishing well for quality flathead and bream. Mud crabs are going off with plenty of bag limits.
The breakwalls have been fishing well for blackfish and bream.
Offshore conditions are improving and some good wahoo, tuna and a few good snapper.
The beaches outside the Flat Rock-Keith Hall closure have produced reasonable bream, whiting and dart with the odd tailor on the southern end. From Flat Rock north to Lennox better tailor to about 3kg.
Nice water at Evans Head for a change with some good bream and the odd school jewfish up the beach and the same around the headlands with a few tailor as well. A few mullet turning up in the surf so there could be some bigger jewies poking about soon.
Big fleet of boats headed offshore Friday morning and most of them are still out there in the afternoon, making the most of good conditions. So far the odd patch of mackerel down south, some snapper, trag and a couple of cobia.
Whiting and flathead upstream in the Evans River with the usual bream from the Iron Gates down.
