Weekly Report 25/7/08

Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop says the rain is adding colour to the water and will bring on the bream in the lower reaches. A few flathead around in North Creek and in the shallows in the main river. Tailor have been going quite well around the walls and headlands with the odd jewfish on hard and soft lures. Blackfish were good but the fresh could see them turn to yabby baits instead of weed.
Very ordinary conditions at Evans Head on Friday with over 110mm of rain in the past 36 hours, rising seas and southerly gusts to around 20 knots. Some blackfish action down on the walls on the incoming tide and the chance of a jewfish. Beaches closed out and offshore a write-off. A few bream, blackfish and flathead in the river.
