Weekly Report 14/11/08

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Nov 14, 2008 11:29 am

Bruce from Dave’s Bait Shop says the whiting have come on the chew with the big tides, Pimlico Island working on bloodworms but other baits have produced pretty mediocre results. A few whiting around the CBD and North Creek at night. Flathead venturing upstream with a few big breeders still in the lower system, best results on the eating size fish from Pimlico to Rileys Hill. Quite a few school jew from Pimlico to Wardell but they’re barely legal or below. Also a few in Emigrant Creek. Mud crabs are still well up all the creeks.
Not many reports from outside but there have been a few boats go out today (Fri).
Whiting and flathead along the beaches and a few decent jew spun up from the walls.
Sloppy onshore conditions at Evans Head this morning but they’re getting a few blackfish from the walls. Fast rising tide means there’s plenty of run and very short float drifts. A couple of stud whiting seen in the river but they’ll be hard to catch because the water is reasonably clear, considering the big tide. Nobody has been outside because of the slop and with a change on the way there won’t be too much joy this weekend.
Beaches have a few whiting, dart and bream but the big morning tides are pushing right into the dunes.
