Weekly Report 19/2/10

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Feb 19, 2010 4:49 pm

Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop says the Richmond up to about Pimlico Island has been quite good for bream and the odd school jewfish but finding quality flathead anywhere has been almost impossible.
The walls have produced tailor, jewfish and bream with a smattering of whiting from the shallower sections as well as up North Creek.
There have been good mud crabs in North Creek and Emigrant Creek.
There have been some tailor and bream on the more sheltered beaches but catches should improve as the wind and swell abate this weekend.
No outside reports
Squally showers passed through Evans Head for most of the morning and a fair lump of a swell offshore with the bar closed out completely on the low tide. Things fined up reasonably well in the afternoon.
The water looks the cleanest and most promising for the year, so when things do settle further, look out!
Beaches a write-off and you’d be certifiable if you fished the headlands but there’s bait in the water and the odd bunch of birds diving.
A few crabs well up the river and the odd nice bream poking around below the bridge but not many have fished since the southerly blew through on Monday.
