Weekly Report 25/6/10

Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop says bream have the major performers in the river this week. Bottom reaches up to Pimlico best with soft plastics, hardbodies and blades working on the rising tide and bait, especially gut baits, working best as the dirty water heads down on the falling tide. Still a few flathead in the same areas, especially on the shallow banks. Just the odd blackfish but weed is scarce.
Plenty of small school jew around the walls, beaches and the bottom reach of the river. Tailor haven’t been too bad along the walls, headlands and beaches.
Looks like a few boats could get out over the weekend and there should be some good snapper and pearl perch around.
At Evans Head the headlands have produced plenty of school jew and tailor but not much in the way of bream, which is unusual at this time of year. Tailor and jew also up the beach when the swell is low enough and there’s been plenty of bait around.
Snapper in close with more reds, pearlies and trag outside but there should be a slowdown over the next few days as the full moon shuts things down.
A few bream and flathead in the river.
