Weekly Report 25/3/11

Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop says the beaches have been fishing really well for lots of dart, nice whiting, bream, flathead and school jew. Tailor from the walls with bream and flathead on the inside along with the occasional school jew.
River fishing quite well for bream, flathead and school jew. Jacks up at the lake outlets and along the Porpoise Wall.
Outside fishing pretty well for Spanish and spotted mackerel, good snapper to 6kg on the 32 and 42 fathom reefs. Also a few rat yellowfin and a couple of wahoo.
At Evans Head the bar has been very shallow and runs due north for almost 100m, breaking in any sort of swell at most parts of the tide. Those who have got through have caught snapper and mackerel but there have been a few unorthodox crossings, although thankfully all the right way up.
Beaches have been reasonably good for bream and some big tarwhine up towards Broadwater and just a few tailor turning up at last.
River quiet apart from some bream and undersized flathead.
