Weekly Report 29/4/11

Ron from Dave’s Bait Shop says there have been good bream around the Town Reach with some whiting and flathead. Some tailor from the walls and the odd school jew on live bait and lures. Mud crabs are quiet, thanks to the rain.
Nothing to report from the beaches or outside.
Down at Evans Head the first rain squall of Friday morning has just blown through and dumped another few millimetres. The swell is around 2.5m from somewhere south and the wind gusts from nothing to about 20 knots in no time – and you want to go fishing?
Try the breakwalls on the making tide this afternoon through to dusk and you could score a jewfish and there have been bream, blackfish and whiting caught. Yabbies are a good bait choice. On the falling tide it’s pretty useless, so hunker down somewhere dry until the tide runs in, peaking around sunset.
