Not too much happening at Ballina, according to Bruce at Dave’s Bait Shop. The ocean has been a bit rough but some boats got out today and headed wide for some snapper and pearlies with the odd king.
The beaches have salmon and a few bream to the south and up around Lennox Head there have been tarwhine, bream, spotted hind and dart, along with the occasional whiting.
The river is still quite dirty but there have been some bream up to about the top of Pimlico Island and better numbers in the Town Reach, along with some flathead and school jew. Crabs from North Creek and above the ferry to almost Wardell.
Salmon along Airforce Beach at Evans Head and the bream are being muscled out of the gutters, say the locals.
Boats went out today and a few have come home with snapper and trag.
The river has some blackfish around the walls and bream up to about the Iron Gates along with some flathead.
