Weekly Report 10/6/11

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jun 10, 2011 2:45 pm

Bruce from Dave’s Bait Shop reckons there’ve been quite a few bream through the river, some with a bit of size to them, a few flatties still around in the shallows and even some whiting. But the big shakers and movers this week have been the school jew, with a lot of fish from just legal size 45cm to around 12kg in the lower river.
The beaches and walls have bream, lots of salmon and the odd tailor.
Outside for a few reds on the closer reefs if you can get out.
No idea what’s happened in Evans Head, I only got back on Thursday night but I can report it’s warmer in the sun than it is in the shade. Bar flat this morning but the horizon is very lumpy and fast-moving. About 1.5m of swell hitting the beach with some reasonable structure at low tide. Plenty of boats out but they’d mostly be in pretty close after snapper and trag. Swell tipped to rise big-time over the weekend.
Evans River doesn’t look bad, there’s a chance of some snowy bream coming in once the seas pick up. It looks like we’re gonna cop heavy onshore weather for a few days – at least the rain will be warmer!
