Weekly Report 7/10/11

Brett at Ballina bait and Tackle says there have been snapper on the 32, the 42, and the 48 fathom reefs, current about 1.5 knots. Also a few in at Riordans. Trag and the odd pearlie also out there on the 32s and wider. A mix of kingfish, samson and cobia on the 48s.
Beaches still have plenty of salmon with a few more whiting starting to show with the biggest last weekend coming from Flat Rock.
Bream are all around the river walls, Emigrant Creek and the main river. They’re not schooled up any more but still some fair ones about.
Flathead haven’t been too bad but they’re up in the shallows, although some bigger females are down along the Porpoise Wall. Live mullet have been the go for bigger jew. Some school jew up Pimlico-Wardell way, with fish from just legal to about 80cm
Snapper also out wider at Evans Head but plenty of trag in close.
Salmon along the beaches with a few whiting and bream.
Flathead in the river in reasonable numbers.
