Weekly Report 18/11/11

Squidgy says there have been a few whiting in North Creek around the yabby beds. Flathead are going OK around Pimlico Island and the Burns Point ferry. Bream are well upstream, from Pimlico to Rileys Hill. Flathead in decent numbers around Woodburn bridge on blades and there are also still a few bass there.
Snapper, kingies and pearlies on the reefs in 38-42 fathoms and masses of undersized trag.
Plenty of small trag at Evans Head, too, although there’s the odd patch of quality ones around 60cm. Snapper going OK on the North Ground and Red Hill but better out deeper, where there are also pearlies and kings. Bar is a snack.
Beaches are very ordinary, although I yesterday (Thu) saw the first school of white pilchards for weeks just beyond the surf line.
River is weird: there are flathead, bream and whiting but they’ve been very shy indeed over the bright moon; let’s hope they relax now the shine has gone off it a bit.
