Weekly Report 25/11/11

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Nov 25, 2011 3:31 pm

Squidgy at Ballina Bait and Tackle reckons there could be a chance to get offshore tomorrow (Sat), despite the notoriety of the Ballina bar. Out on the 32 and 48 reefs there have been good rat kings, snapper and pearlies. Better kings and amberjack out on the 52s on jigs.
The beaches are still quiet with any whiting and dart there are coming from the northern beaches. Shovelnose sharks are in numbers on most beaches already, if you don’t like them to eat, for god’s sake let them go.
North Creek has plenty of whiting on surface lures; Pimlico should be OK if you can catch it before the latest fresh comes down. Wardell bridge down has been good for flathead on bait and lures. Bream Wardell up to around Broadwater.
Not much to report at Evans all week, thanks to the appalling weather, but it’s settled down a bit on Friday afternoon. Bar OK but not sure about the weekend weather or if anybody has been out all week.
The river still not badly discoloured and quite fishable and there have been bream, whiting and the odd flathead.
The beaches have been shut down thanks to the wind and then the rain but the water has cleaned up quite well and it looks worth a throw. Some bream around the rocks but not much in the way of school jew or tailor and just the occasional salmon.
