Weekly Report 30/3/12

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Mar 30, 2012 12:43 pm

Brett says there have been a couple of bigger flathead down along the walls with fish to 90cm caught and released. School jew up as far as the ferry. Small bream in North Creek with bigger ones and more of them in the main river up as far as Wardell.
Mud crabs have maybe not appreciated the cooler weather, with very few caught this week. Try the bigger tides late next week for a better shot.
Still a few jew around the breakwalls with some bigger ones among the schoolies.
A few snapper on the close reefs and nobody seems to have been much further.
Tailor still around the northern headlands, one or two bream still whiting along Lennox Beach.
Swell nudging 2m along Airforce Beach at Evans Head with schools of hard-gut mullet in the gutters but not a great deal else during the day unless you like stingrays and shovelnoses. At night some tailor and bream with just a few jewfish.
Nobody has been offshore.
The river has flathead, whiting and improving numbers of bream and if the swell picks up enough this weekend there should be blackfish around the walls in fair numbers.
