Weekly Report 4/5/12

Brett at Ballina Bait and Tackle says the jewies have been mixed on the walls, some schoolies on mullet and squid but bigger fish on plastics. Bream on the rising tide going fairly well but shutting down when the tide turns. Flathead in North Creek and a few mud crabs up there as well.
The odd flathead, nice bream and some chopper tailor from the beaches, mainly those north of the river or south of Patchs, it’s a bit dirty around the walls. The odd jew and good tailor from Flat Rock.
Offshore for a few mackerel and one or two nice snapper. Out on the 32s for snapper and trag.
At Evans Head the snapper and mackerel have been going quite well through the week with some good knobbies belting the mackerel livies. Some unstoppable runs on the live bait, too. Bar is OK Friday morning but the predicted southerly hasn’t hit yet.
The beaches have flathead and bream with just the odd patch of school jew and the odd bigger jewie wherever the mullet are schooling.
Try the river for bream on the top of the tide.
