Weekly Report 17/1/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jan 18, 2013 3:56 pm

Bruce was a bit busy to give us a Ballina report this week but I know they’ve been getting the odd mackerel in close from Lennox and down to Riordans and some good reds out on the 32-fathom grounds.
The Richmond River has flathead around Pimlico, bream spread pretty well everywhere from Ballina to Coraki and school jew around Wardell. Crabs from Wardell to Woodburn and up Emigrant Creek.
There are bream, flathead and tailor on the beaches.
At Evans the close reefs have the odd nice patch of snapper and trag and the Spanish mackerel are there as well but they’re quite patchy. Sometimes you can tow a live slimy all day for nothing and the next day go out and get a hit within minutes. They’re nowhere in particular, with macks caught everywhere from Riordans down to Black Rock but nowhere better than anywhere else.
Tailor, whiting and bream along the beaches with the odd patch of school jew on the beaches and around the headlands.
Try the Evans River for whiting, flathead and bream. Plenty of little and not so little GTs in the upper reaches.
