Weekly Report 1/2/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Feb 01, 2013 2:00 pm

Brett says the flood peak has passed and they’re catching bull sharks off the breakwalls and a few bream on the seaward sides of the walls, but there’s a heap more water to come, along with trees, dead cows, rubbish and everything else. Bar is way too rough and the swell is up. Might be worth a throw from the sheltered parts of the headlands at Lennox and Flat Rock.
Similar story at Evans Head, where the swell is still over 2m and a southerly change is booked in for late Saturday – great. The beach jewie fishers are out and about and there’s the odd mullet in close but I haven’t heard of any great captures so far. There’s still quite a lot of surge in the surf and it’s hard to get to any of the better gutters.
Evans River is pretty filthy and the beach looks like a garbage tip.
