Weekly Report 29/11/13

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Nov 29, 2013 1:50 pm

The fishing has been a little bit ordinary lately.

Offshore it’s been too rough for most. A couple of the pros got out during the week, but most recreational fishers have been waiting for conditions to improve.

The big swell has made the beaches tough. Reports have been limited to a couple of flatties, a few bream and the odd tailor in the afternoons.

The occasional mulloway has been coming from the rocks, mostly on the usual baits of squid and mullet.

Back in the river, we’re starting to see mud crab catches increase. North Creek and the main river have delivered some good crabs, and this should only improve with the big tides next week.

The bigger tides from this weekend should also see the whiting fishing pick up.

There have been school mulloway caught at Wardell Bridge, but a lot have been undersize.

Bream have been caught on the run-up tide on the break walls and the Porpoise Wall. Flathead catches have been best on the run-out tide on white and blue pilchards.
