Weekly Report 23/01/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Thu Jan 23, 2014 4:33 pm

The weather has been lousy so hardly anybody has been out this week, and the weekend looks to be no better.

Only the jew fishing fraternity are happy, seeing as mulloway love the rough stuff. When you’re an ambush predator it’s presumably easier to remain hidden when the water is churned up, all the while picking off hapless baitfish trying to find shelter behind structure. Target them off the rocks or off the break walls using big hardbodies or large soft plastics.

There is also an outside chance that the odd Spanish mackerel will come in close to the rocks in this rough weather.

There are a few whiting and flathead in the lower reaches of the river but obviously conditions are uncomfortable. There are still good numbers of mud crabs getting around as well.
