This weekend we should have the odd rainy patch, so make sure you have a rain coat handy. The swell is starting to drop and the boaties may have a chance to get out and have another crack at the mackerel on the close reefs. A few snapper are also starting to show up in close, so this may indicate that the water temperature is starting to drop a little. There hasn't been much action out wide in the last week with the rough conditions, but the middle of next week is looking pretty good if you can get the time off.

The large swell has made the beaches tough as well with only a handful of bream and tailor popping up during the week. The break walls have been producing some small tailor and mulloway recently, along with plenty of bream. Pilchards and mullet have been the pick of the baits to use along with some metal slugs for the tailor. Some better quality mulloway have been caught behind the CBD at night using live baits, but this has usually been around the top of the tide.

Some good numbers of bream have been showing up from the mouth of the river to Pimlico Island and seem to be starting to school up for the winter breeding season. Prawns, mullet and chicken gut along with some vibes and plastics have all worked well. Not many people have been going but there are still some reasonable numbers of crabs in Emigrant Creek and the main river on the run up tide. A few flathead and small school mulloway have been landed between Pimlico Island and Riley's Hill. Prawns, pilchards and live herring have all been working.

Some good quality bass have been hitting spinnerbaits between Coraki and Lismore during the last week. With the overcast conditions try using darker colours.
