Report 22/5/15

Post by subeditor » Fri May 22, 2015 2:04 pm

Strong winds and large and powerful surf conditions are going to prevent any offshore fishing, and make the beach and rocks nearly impossible.
A few quality bream and jew have been coming the break walls. Mullet fillets and pilchards have been the best of the baits for the bream and soft plastics have been tempting the jew.
The lower reaches of the river have produced some good numbers of bream and a few more blackfish are also starting to show up.
The flathead have started moving up river with better numbers being caught between the ferry and Wardell bridge, using prawns and pilchards as well as bright colored lures.
A few mud crabs are still moving around even though the water temperature has dropped. In North creek they have been caught down as far as Prospect bridge. The lower reaches of Emigrant creek have been productive and just above the ferry in the main river has also been worth a look.
Once this weather settles early next week the beaches will be worth checking out for some bream, flathead and tailor.
Tight lines. Brett.
