Report 28/5/15

Post by subeditor » Fri May 29, 2015 1:30 pm

Incredibly strong winds are predicted for Saturday which is going to make most fishing activities very difficult. Sunday we should see a drop in the wind back to a more manageable level.
If it does drop back enough some of the rock platforms should produce a few tailor from Sunday afternoon onward. The break walls have produced a few jew on lures during the week. Conditions are dangerous out on the end of the walls and safety needs to be your number one priority if you are going to head out there. Back away from the tip of the walls there has been some quality bream taking mullet fillets, blue pilchards and mullet gut. A number of smaller jew have been taken along the Porpoise Wall and behind the CBD this week. Live baits at the top of the tide has been the best bet as usual.
North and Emigrant Creeks may be one option to get you out of the wind a little this weekend. A number of flathead and bream have been caught in these areas during the week, but try to fish the run in tide as the water coming down the creeks is still dirty on the run out. Pilchards, mullet and prawns have all been pretty good bait options.
There is still a few mudcrabs coming from the creeks also, but get in quick because I can't see them being there much longer given the cold weather. Woodburn to Coraki has produced some bass and the odd EP this week. Most fish have been happy to take a soft plastic or metal blade hopped off the bottom. The drains and snags above Coraki will also be worth checking out with reaction baits such as vibes and spinnerbaits. Just remember we are on closed season, so all bass and EP's must be returned to the water unharmed.

Tight lines! Brett.
