Report 8/8/15

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Aug 14, 2015 3:32 pm

A mostly sunny weekend is ahead of us and the wind is predicted to drop off as the weekend goes on. Good numbers of bream are being caught near the mouth of the river. Mullet, prawns and pilchards have all been good bait options. Better numbers of flathead have been landed between Pimlico Island and Broadwater. White and blue pilchards have been the best baits.

Plenty of luderick have been caught between the mouth of the river and the Burns Point Ferry. Green weed has worked the best, but a few fish are still taking cabbage out on the rock platforms.

A number of school jew have come from the outside of the break walls. Worms, mullet and squid have all been baits worth trying. A couple of larger fish have taken hard body lures on the inside of the walls at night.

The beaches have produced a few chopper tailor and some good quality bream and dart. Angels, Boulders and Shelleys beach have all been pretty good during the week. Pippies, mullet and worms have all worked well. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there will be any offshore fishing this weekend due to the wind and rough seas. The middle of the week is looking the best but there is still heaps of leather jackets out wide.

Tight lines. Brett.
