Snapper, flathead, tusk fish, jew and the odd pearl perch have been taken from 32's on both baits and lures. Some small kingfish, amberjack and snapper have been out a little wider. Good numbers of trag jew and the odd snapper have still been caught on the close reefs.

Live bait has been a little difficult to get so you may have to check Black Head and Pippies to find a few. The beaches have been producing a mixed bag of fish at the moment. Some quality dart, bream and the odd whiting have been taken from Angels and Boulders. Main and South Ballina beaches have been producing some whiting, bream and flathead during the day and a few chopper tailor in the afternoons. Worms, pipis and white pilchards have all been good baits. A few luderick are still being caught around Prospect bridge but the numbers have certainly dropped over the past couple of weeks. Prawns and white or blue pilchards have been tempting the flathead from the mouth of the river to Pimlico Island. Natural colored soft plastics have also been a good option for the lure throwers.

The run-in tide has been producing a few whiting on worms and yabbies and the run out tides have been better using surface lures. The warmer weather is starting to fire up a few more mud crabs. Both of the creeks and the main river have produced crabs this week, but the run out tide has been the best option.

Tight lines, Brett
