Whiting, dart and flathead have been coming from South Ballina and Angels beach. The odd tailor has also been taken on pilchards or mullet in the afternoon.

The bigger tides this weekend will hopefully get the mud crabs marching around. Emigrant has been producing some reasonable quality crabs above the highway bridge. With the bigger tides it may be worth trying above Prospect Bridge in North Creek but be aware it is still very shallow in places.

The big run in tides should produce some whiting from the mouth of the river to Pimlico Island using live yabbies and worms. The water is still discolored so if you want to chase some bream up river, then chicken or mullet gut will be good bait options. The flathead have been taking white pilchards, prawns and small lures from the mouth of the river to the ferry.

The bass have been a little quiet the last few days but spinnerbaits and hard body lures will be worth trying in darker colors due to the recent rain.
