Apart from some wind, this weekend should be pretty good. Unfortunately the swell has not dropped off so it does not look like we will see any offshore fishing. Tuesday or Wednesday next week are looking like the first chance we may get to venture out there.

The beaches have been a little quiet with a few whiting and flathead showing up on Angels and Seven Mile beaches. The odd tailor and some dart have been coming from South Ballina beach during the week. The usual baits such as pilchards, worms and pipis.

The river still had a fair bit of colour to it so the run in tide will still be the preferred tide to fish. Some good numbers of flathead are still being caught from the mouth of the river up to Pimlico Island. Better numbers of bream and some school jew have been taken from Pimlico Island to Broadwater. Mullet, squid, and gut baits have been the best bet for the bream and live herring or yabbies have been tempting the jew.

Some better quality crabs have been caught during the week. Small tides this week have made crabbing in North creek difficult due to the shallow water levels, so try Emigrant creek and the main river between the ferry and Riley's Hill.
