Some good quality mahi mahi have been taken on the 32's and around the FAD. Live baits, soft plastics and skirted lures have all been successful this week. Snapper, kingfish, trag and flathead have also come from the 32 fathom line using baits and soft plastics. Spanish and spotted mackerel are showing up at Brunswick and Evans Head so it may be worth a drive north or south to target them or try Lennox Point if you are really keen to chase them, on the off chance that one or two are hanging around already.

Bream, whiting, dart and flathead have been taken from the beaches. There are some nice gutters on Angels, Boulders and Seven Mile beaches. Worms, pippies, and white or blue pilchards have all been good bait options.

Good numbers of flathead have been caught from the mouth of the river to Pimlico Island. The whiting have been in the same area and will improve in numbers this week with the bigger tides. Bream and jacks have been taken along the rock walls, and the bream have been in reasonable numbers out over the sand flats on the run in tide using surface lures.

Mudcrabs have been in better numbers above the ferry in the main river, and in Emigrant creek. The tides will be smaller as we get closer to Christmas so their numbers may drop a little this week. Late afternoon has still been good for surface lures on bass, but stick with spinnerbaits and cranks during the heat of the day as the fish have been sitting deep.
