Guys got spotties and Spanish mackerel during the week on the close reefs but there’s a big southerly blow coming in tomorrow to spoil our fun.

On the 32 fathom line we’ve been getting some snapper, flathead and tailor. There has also been the odd pearlie on the 32s and the 42s. Anglers are still catching a few dollies on the FAD on livies and pillies.

The tailor run started early, with most of the beaches yielding a few choppers and the odd bigger fish to 2.5kg. There are still a few whiting and flathead kicking around, but most of the catches have been of bream and tailor.

We’re seeing a few 5-10kg jew on the walls, but that main run hasn’t started yet because the mullet haven’t started to run. Most of the flats in the river are producing fish from the Burns Point ferry to the broadwater. The bream have been between the mouth of the river and Pimlico island. There are still a few mud crabs being potted on the run-up tides at night.

Bass are being caught between Woodburn and Lismore, with many taken on reaction baits like mumblers and spinnerbaits.
